Why have an embedded librarian in your course?
Distance learning classes do not always offer the opportunity for a typical in-person library instruction session. Therefore, it is difficult for distance learning students to know what resources and services are available to them through the library. An embedded librarian can help address this by supporting students in their space virtually.
What we need from faculty in order for the embedded librarian to be successful:

The library has over 300,000 full text e-books available through Search Almost Everything!
To search for e-books use Search Almost Everything on the library homepage http://www.sunyjefferson.edu/academics/library and use the limiters on the left side column under "Limit by Type of Publication" on the search results page to narrow your results to just eBooks.
You can put links to specific articles from the JCC databases in your Blackboard class so that all your students can read the same resource. You can also provide links to streaming video clips from Films On Demand, images from ArtStor and music tracks from Naxos. The key to creating this link is using the permanent link (or permalink, durable link, etc.) to the specific item and making sure the EZProxy prefix for Jefferson is appended to the front of the permalink.
To find a permalink for an EBSCO article, choose the title of the article from the results link. This takes you to the full record. The permalink is available on the right. For instance, the permalink to an article is http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=53337496&site=ehost-live. The EZProxy prefix http://jccweb.sunyjefferson.edu:2048/login?url= must be added to authenticate the student (i.e., require the student to login) as access is not available to the general public. The dedicated link to the article is now
