JCC's Research Guide: Finding books

Helpful handouts

Locating full text electronic books

The JCC Library has over 40,000 print books you can borrow and also over 100,000 full text e-books available through CannonCat, the library catalog. Use the "change collection" pull-down to limit your search to e-books if you want.

Locating books from other libraries

  • SUNYConnect Union Catalog If the book you require is not in CannonCat, search here next. The SUNYConnect Union Catalog searches 64 SUNY library catalogs. Once you locate the book, click "Request Item" and follow the directions.

  • OCLC WorldCat If the book you require is not available at another SUNY library, search in WorldCat next. WorldCat is the world's largest online catalog, containing over 40,000,000 records for books, periodicals, visual materials, sound recordings, and multimedia, and it also indicates the libraries that own each title. Once you locate the book, click the "ILL" icon near the top of the page and follow the directions for placing the request.

  • Icepac Northern New York's regional book catalog, containing records for the holdings of the region's academic, public, school, and special libraries. Please do not attempt to request books via Icepac. Use Illiad. Follow the directions in the box below.

ILLiad - Interlibrary loan services

Is there a book you know you want but you can't find it at the JCC Library? No problem! We can get it through Information Delivery Services. Follow the instructions on the JCC Library website for borrowing books through ILLiad.
