Admission to the Library
The Library is currently open to Jefferson Community College students, faculty and staff. Students enrolled in courses conducted by the Jefferson Higher Education Center (JHEC) are also able to use our facilities.
To enter the library, students must:
Curbside Pick-up / Returning
Although the Library is open, if you prefer to not enter the building you may request curbside pick-up or returns.
Returns from Outside the Area
If you live outside the area and need to return library materials, contact us to make arrangements to do that. You may contact us by calling 315-786-2225 or via email library@sunyjefferson.edu
Library Loans
Request books and other library materials for borrowing at the Information and Services Desk in person, by calling 315-786-2225, or emailing library@sunyjefferson.edu. Returned library materials will be quarantined for three days per current industry standard. Book collection shelving is only open to library staff. Library users can browse our bookshelves virtually by using Primo. Look up a book or topic and scroll down to the bottom of the full record to find a gallery view of the other materials found on the same shelf.
Synchronous Instruction and Zoom Rooms
The Library has four rooms designated as Zoom Rooms. These rooms allow students enrolled in synchronous classes to utilize Zoom, or another online platform, which requires audible participation. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. All students must use headphones for this type of activity to decrease distracting others.
Group Study Rooms
Group study rooms will not be available for group work for the time being. Groups may work in other available library spaces following social distancing protocols.
Textbooks on Reserve
The Library carries some textbooks currently used by JCC courses. These may be borrowed for up to two hours for use in the library only. Staff will wipe down the outside covers between textbook loans. Borrowers may use our textbooks with the knowledge that we are not putting them in a three-day quarantine between uses, which is the current accepted practice in libraries. Students must sanitize hands before and after each textbook use. They must also agree to wear their mask while using the book to lower the risk of contamination.
Scanning Requests
The JCC Library will provide students, faculty and staff with pdf scans from books and textbooks in our collection on request. Staff will supply scans of one chapter or 20 pages per request, whichever is larger. Make requests by calling 315-786-2225 or emailing library@sunyjefferson.edu. Please allow 48 hours for fulfillment from the time the library sends an acknowledgement of the request.
