About the Library

Library Guidelines in Effect During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Admission to the Library

  • Masks must be worn by all. (The one exception is when you are the only person occupying a Zoom room.)
  • Students must stop at the Information & Services Desk to sign in with your name and J number.

Curbside Pick-up / Returning

Although the Library is open, if you prefer to not enter the building you may request curbside pick-up or returns.

  • Patrons returning items in-person are encouraged to place the items in the Book Return on the first floor of the CLC.
  • Patrons who need to pick-up materials should place their requests by calling 315-786-2225 or via email
  • Once the availability of the item(s) is confirmed, you will be contacted to schedule a pick-up date and time.
  • Photo ID required at pickup.

Returns from Outside the Area

If you live outside the area and need to return library materials, contact us to make arrangements to do that. You may contact us by calling 315-786-2225 or via email

Library Loans and Collections

The book collections are open for access and browsing. Place books you handle, yet do not wish to borrow on the carts that are provided. Returned/browsed library materials will be quarantined for three days per current industry standard.

Synchronous Instruction and Zoom Rooms

The Library has eight rooms designated as Zoom Rooms. These rooms allow students enrolled in synchronous classes to utilize Zoom, or another online platform, which requires audible participation. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. All students must use headphones for this type of activity to decrease distracting others.

Group Study Rooms

Group study rooms are designated as Zoom Rooms at this point. Groups may work in other available library spaces; please contact a staff member if you need assistance locating an appropriate place to work.

Textbooks on Reserve

The Library carries some textbooks currently used by JCC courses. These may be borrowed for up to two hours for use in the library only. Staff will wipe down the outside covers between textbook loans. Borrowers may use our textbooks with the knowledge that we are not putting them in a three-day quarantine between uses, which is the current accepted practice in libraries. Students must sanitize hands before and after each textbook use.

Scanning Requests

The JCC Library will provide students, faculty and staff with pdf scans from books and textbooks in our collection on request. Staff will supply scans of one chapter or 20 pages per request, whichever is larger. Make requests by calling 315-786-2225 or emailing Please allow 48 hours for fulfillment from the time the library sends an acknowledgement of the request.
